On Thanksgiving morning I was able to document an outreach ministries service. Outdoors, downtown, it was very bright out but not too hot. A church was having a small service and offering hot Thanksgiving meals, then someone from our church was having a clothing give away. Lots of people came by. All with many needs.
Andre Kirwan did a great job pulling everything together. Here is the result, enjoy.

We photographed Mary and Brendan’s wedding a couple of years ago, so now was time for their first baby portraits. Noah was one of the most behaved babies we have ever had! I kept waiting for a tantrum or something, but he was just having fun. Some little ones don’t like the lights and all of the excitement.

Here are a few from the session.

Cassie and Kevin were married at the Tampa Marriott Waterside. It’s a great venue and our first time shooting a wedding in their outside area by the water. A perfect day! Cassie’s colors included purple (her shoes were purple too). And there was much attention to details. A live band kept everyone on the dance floor and a candy area for the “kids”. We met a few of the relatives that were from Minnesota, where we are from. So that was fun talking about why we are no longer living up north. The bridal party was very fun loving and the event truly turned out well. Here are a few images we picked out.

Congrats Cassie and Kevin!

Kristen and Lee had the ceremony in St Pete, then the reception at the Trade Winds Resort. Grande Occasions handled the event details. We had to work around one of the usual afternoon storms, But I knew it wouldn’t last long. We still managed to get some shots in at the beach.

Kristens dress was beautiful, and she also had a second dress for the reception that allowed her more freedom for the party. The ceremony started a little late, and I was able to sneak a shot of Lee TRYING to be patient for it to start. I also got to use my new infra red camera for a few photos in the rose garden. The flower girl was adorable and did a great job. I was able to get some nice effects compensating for the videographers light during the dances.  The dessert/cookie table caught my eye…not that I would notice that kind of thing… ;-)

Congrats Kristen and Lee!

DeNeal and I just  celebrated a big wedding anniversary (30th)…yes, we WERE married at age 13 ;-)

We chose to go to the Smoky mountains and have a cabin up in the mountains. We found the hiking trails to be beautiful and the white water rafting was far better than I thought it would be. We saw a bear cub on one of the trails, but he was doing his own thing…which was fine with us. We hiked to several of the scenic waterfalls and of course we had our cameras w/ us. The Gatlinburg business area was full of great restaurants. Here are a few images for the trip.

Julie and Chris are getting married in Oct. So we wanted to shoot their engagement photos before it gets too hot. We went to bayshore area and then down town. A great couple, they were game for pretty much anything. My goal is to try to get each couple to relax a little. Since most people have not been in a photo shoot. But they had a good time! Here are a few from the shoot.

Looking forward to their wedding .

I am falling behind on my new years goal of blogging! That’s the only goal I am lacking…it is also the only goal I made ;-)

Wow! Jessica’s Party was fantastic. The decorations were beautiful and the A La Carte Pavilion did a great job.

She had 15 couples for her 15th birthday, the stretch limo had to make 2 trips. Everyone enjoyed themselves, the kids really liked dancing to the video screen. Mom and Dad loved watching their daughter have a great time.

Here are just a few shots.

We photographed Erin’s sister’s wedding a few years ago (Cari and Paul), so we are looking forward to this wedding as well!

Beach photography is always fun, they were going to have a beach wedding, but opted for an engagement session on the beach instead.

The weather at the beach was good, until the sun started to set. It got cold in a hurry. I asked Erin and Zach if they wanted to go into the water but they decided it was a bit too chilly for that. But we had a great time as I put them in all kinds of spaces and places. I like to put them on the rocks…but it is not real comfortable there. They were very good about it. Less than one month to go!

Congrats Erin and Zach…see you soon.

I traveled to the Imaging USA conference in Phoenix last week. It is for the PPA (Professional Photographers of America) education and inspiration get together. While catching up with old friends, it was funny how we have all been approached by people at weddings with their horror photographer stories.

Now I normally stay away from these comments, but there has been an influx of 100′s of “photographers” in the last year or so looking for quick or “easy” cash. Most are not trained, not qualified and have no experience. Yes, they are cheaper, but with a pro you know that your images will look like the ones on the website. Your storybook will be amazing…just like the studio samples and years later, when you want more photos, they will STILL be here.

This may sound odd, but even if you don’t hire us, we urge you to choose a pro.

While in Phoenix, I got to take a portrait of Frank Lloyd Wright’s last living pupil who still lives on campus. and also check out the Barrett Jackson car auction.

Enjoy the images.
