Sakeena and Kevin were married a couple of weeks ago at the Ala Carte Pavillion in Tampa. The ceremony was held in their beautiful hall. With super tall pillars and tile floors. They should be coming back from their honeymoon any day now. DeNeal and I enjoyed photographing their wedding day, the details were perfect! Kevin even noticed that I left some of my radio controls for our flashes in the reception room. He got a big “thank you” from me. I tend to leave things behind, I once left an equipment bag in the hotel parking lot in NYC for a wedding we shot there. Believe it or not, it didn’t get taken.
I’m working on their custom slide show, as we do for each wedding and engagement session. It’s looking pretty good.
Congrats to Sakeena and Kevin!

We have been wedding and portrait photographers in Tampa since 2005. A week ago I received an email from a couple we photographed their wedding at the Fish Hawk Ranch in 06. A very nice place for a wedding. Well, out of the blue this email comes in…”Dear Mitchell and DeNeal, it has been 6 years since you photographed our wedding day. We just wanted to thank you and let you know how blessed we were to have you as our photographers! Friends always ask who our photographers were when they look at our story book. Your skill and your work really impresses them. Thank you for giving us such timeless photographs!”
Lena and Mike.
That just made our day.

After you have photographed hundreds of weddings, you begin to work at some places regularly. The Tampa water side Marriott is a wonderful location for your wedding. And as a photographer, I am only limited by the time we are given to create beautiful images. There are so many places, inside and out that I love. Even a few secret places, only the photographers with a keen eye would see. If you are having guests come from out of town, they will love the Marriott. While you are there, check out one of our award winning storybooks in the office.

I personally love to photograph engaged couples. They are so excited about the wedding and each other. My job is to make them look good and have a lot of fun in the process. I know most photographers just do a cookie cutter approach, to get it done quickly. But I like to taylor each session to the couple, then add a bit of my own personality and style. Which often includes shooting after the sun goes down.
Some of the favorite places people like to go are Clear water beach or Sand Key Park, Forte DeSoto Park. I also know of a few “secret” beaches. Either downtown St Pete or downtown Tampa offer wonderful backdrops as well. But what is more important than just a backdrop is to have someone capture you as you are. I get that compliment a lot, and nothing makes me feel better as a wedding photographer than to hear their friends say “those photos are so you guys!” Here are just a few recent photos.

In New Tampa you can find “The Tampa Palms Country Club”. A lovely location for your wedding. The out door area is covered to protect from the rains or direct sun. The catering is outstanding and They take good care of you. I love that the Bridal suite is very large, and lots of window light. And I live for window light…and chocolates, but mainly window light. With scenic areas right on the grounds, you have everything you need for a beautiful wedding. Here are some recent photos.

Being a Tampa wedding photographer does not mean we just photograph weddings in Tampa. In fact, we are on the preferred lists of many beautiful hotels in the Bay area. The Hyatts , in Clearwater beach and the Grand Hyatt on the causeway are just 2 of them. They have used our images for some of their promotions. The Hyatts are top notch and they know how to spoil you. At the Grand Hyatt they have an outdoor gazebo on the Bay that is perfect for photographs! I like to find places that are not the “usual” spots. And be creative. Here are a few from Natalie and Brian’s wedding.

This young lady has over come a long battle w/ cancer. Her wish is for a winter themed Quince. So we found a location (production set for a Christmas play) and I brought some lights and we went to town.
It will be an honor to photograph her big celebration. And I am looking forward to it. It has taken a whole group of family and friends to help see her through this tough journey. Congrats to everyone!

We met Jennifer and Felix at a bridal show a while back

They were having their wedding at the florida aquarium in tampa. I said that would be a pretty cool place for a wedding. Now the conditions there are not kind to photographers. Basically shooting in a cave…w/ fish around you. But I assured them I was experienced and equiped to handle it. They loved the engagement photos we took of them at the aquarium and were excited for the wedding. Along the way, they added some penquins and a hawk…and a horse and carriage. It was a wonderful and fun event. We could tell that their friends and family really enjoyed themselves. The romantic images with Jennifer and Felix were done w/ special low light lenses and just a small video light. I enjoy being creative and having fun, but we didn’t want to keep everyone waiting for the reception. So We worked fast and w/ a purpose. Some of the very nice wedding professionals we worked w/ are Grant Hemond ent. Ashley Valentine at the Aquarium, Linda from a victorian bride. Not to mention the cupcakes from Joey @ frostings etc.

Here are some images that I love. Congrats Jennifer and Felix!

I photographed Sakeena and Kevin at the beautiful Hollis Gardens in Lakeland. Great weather and we had fun getting to know each other more. Their wedding will be at the Ala Carte Pavillion next year. I wanted to mainly photograph them interacting with each other. That is the most natural way to do this. Then when it got dark, we went where there were some night lights and shot some more. Their line of work (medical field) brought them together, and they are quite excited for their wedding day! Which always makes me happy.

Here are a few images. Congrats Sakeena and Kevin!

And now for something completely different.

I had the opportunity to photograph some beautiful models on the beach w/ several other photographers from TAPPA. They were modeling mermaid costumes designed and made by Eric Ducharme. . His mermaid costumes were used by Lady Gaga in some videos! Quite amazing.

Being in the middle of the fall wedding season and w/ the Holiday portrait time here, it was fun for a little change of pace. We are booked up w/ weddings through 11, but can fit in a few more Holiday sessions. Call or email to schedule your session.

Enjoy the mermaids.
